Renovert barnehjem utenfor Yangon

Burma: –Obeds house

Dedication of renovated building

Prayer and dedication for the buildings and the kids

Obeds House is an orphanage in the outskirts of Yangon, Myanmar.  Here about 24 kids are living together with 5 grownups. Most of the kids are from the Burmese society, and the surrounding village. But some are also from the Karen-state and others from the Chin-state.   Some have lost their parents, some have parents that can not take care of them, and others are thrown out after the mother or the father has got a new wife or husband.

The orphanage is not a castle, it is not a nice hotel. But surely it is a home, a place to be loved and to be cared for, a place to be wanted.

The oldest girls at the orphanage

I was here first time about 4 years ago and was so impressed by the kids. They were so happy over their survival of the cyclone Nargis that killed so many people in that area.

I also saw their living conditions. «It would be better to close the whole orphanage» I thought. But what would happen to all those kids?

4 years ago, the orphanage did not have water. Many kids were suffering under skin deceases and often stomach problems. We gave them water, not just to the orphanage, but also flowing to the pore families around, thus showing Gods love to the neighborhood.

We also saw that the distance between the kitchen and the outdoor toilets were too small. Friends in Norway, Roy and Hege Aaros, heard about the conditions, and thought they could do something with that problem. Now they have nice indoor toilet at the Obeds House.

Last year the Swiss couple Heinz and Ruth Hertig had a feast in Switzerland. They did not want gifts for themselves, but a gift to Obeds House, thus supporting the renovation of the buildings. The property also got a fence around, making the home more secure.

I do not like to beg for money, I don't like "the money" to be any focus at all. But as result of people meeting people, we often see that love are flowing. We all are in need of to be seen in some ways, to feel that we belong. Maybe those kids need that more than other kids, I just can assume. But I easily can see their gratitude and thankfulness when they sing for us about Gods plan for their lives.

What is a  dedication without much food? The pig is cocked and rise for hundreds
